Matthew 25:40   NIV
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Gracious God, we pray once more for a situation that does not appear to be easing, as record numbers of migrants crossing the channel is recorded. We pray for all those who find themselves forced to flee their homelands in order to find safety and security, for those who are so desperate to find peace, that they are prepared to risk their lives crossing the channel in unsuitable and unsafe sea vessels. We pray that policies, instigated by those in positions of authority, will ensure and prioritise the safety and welfare of all asylum seekers. We pray for an end to human trafficking and slavery. Lord God, may we as communities extend hands of support and friendship to those who seek refuge in our homeland. May we be a people who hear the voices of the vulnerable and respond with empathy and understanding. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
